Sitting Ducks
03:28
|
|||
sitting ducks, cups gone cold
the rainfall ends, no pot of gold
who knows where I'm meant to be?
a boat at sea, sways willingly
a patient instability
I can't find peace with the flow
there is so much that I'm yet to show
but I'm wrapped in my casing
no I'm not even chasing
all the things that I could be
I'm so wrapped up with wasting
why am I still here waiting?
what more is there to do
while I'm stuck in my cocoon?
teething pains, Achilles heel
the baby cries, an even keel
sometimes it hurts just to grow
folded wings, the bee stings
wasted dreams, they're all just things
here's grace in just letting it go
but I'm unwilling with all that I know
but I'm wrapped in my casing
no I'm not even chasing
all the things that I could be
I'm so wrapped up with wasting
why am I still here waiting?
what more is there to do
while I'm stuck in my cocoon?
with all of the pain
I've tried to stay sane
but the time has a way
of turning decay
into sand and grain
rubble and stains
and it slips through my fingers
again and again
with all of the pain
I've tried to stay sane
but the time has a way
of turning decay
into sand and grain
rubble and stains
and it slips through my fingers
again and again
a heavy stone, a solid throne
to know the top, you go alone
chasing Olympian goals
but life's the alchemical gold

Tethered Doves
04:24
|
|||
tethered to the soul
one went it alone
one fell beside the stone
too many times
their lines intertwined
weaving heaven to earth
with one fumbling in the dirt
forgive my fragility
no it doesn't come easily
like it did before
while I tend this broken wing
I know the birds will still sing
for the new dawn
I've been inclined
to give up on the ride
let the angels steer the wheel
but my fears seem to steal
all that shines bright
the light that's in my life
the love you're keen to give
is the way I want to live
so I'll let my sorrows lie
cause I wanna see you fly
I couldn't crush a little bird
cause I know how it can hurt
I wanna watch you soar
like you've never been so sure
I'll hold the open door
cause you hold the key to the cure
two dancing kites
still in mind but out of sight
and yet I feel the draw
while I sketch another storm
I'm scared I may let go
when my panic starts to show
but he asked me to hold tight
to brave the colder nights
so I'll let my sorrows lie
cause I wanna see you fly
I couldn't crush a little bird
cause I know how it can hurt
I wanna watch you soar
like you've never been so sure
I'll hold that open door
you hold the key to the cure
oh stupid vulnerability
why's it never come easily
like it did before?
I've been tending a broken wing
hoping one day I will sing
with the new dawn

The Poet
04:56
|
|||
they took you away from you
beautiful as you were
and those paintings of your words
could turn a backwards world around
you were running from the heartbreak
and fell into the worst fate
they could have helped you more
it must have been a mistake
but they covered up for their sake
yet they hover at your door
dark nights in the white cell
institutionalised hell
and that's where the angel fell
labelled unwell
and they diminished her light
but they don't even know about love,
about peace, about everything in between
no they don't know the heart, or the soul,
what's it like to be so cold?
and they say that you
are the one
who lost their mind?
the world is so unkind
I saw myself in you
every shade that they're blind to
and past the prison of the mind
the poet finds
that nirvana is inside
but they don't even know about love,
about peace, about everything in between
no they don't know the heart, or the soul,
what's it like to be so cold?
and they say that you
are the one
who lost their mind?
the world is so unkind
do you see yourself as worthy?
like no trouble could harm me?
oh we're one step away...
see yourself as worthy
while they build an army
oh to take my friend away
oh they don't even know about love,
about peace, about everything in between
no they don't know the heart, or the soul,
what's it like to be so cold?
and they say that you
are the one
who lost their mind?
oh but the world is so unkind
it's crazy to me
how the world is so unkind

Feather
04:39
|
|||
where have you been hiding?
what impeccable timing
and the stars, they are aligning
how you almost missed the show
but here you are, and how you glow
and I'll float like a feather
I don't whether I'm too soft
cause I had landed in the shadows
was it was too easy for me to be lost?
and of my darkest memories
they still move me in some way
to see the light in the extremities
of each and every day
shine from the darkness
you will lighten up as you grow
cause you've got your wings
don't you remember?
they're soft and white like snow
he painted my blank canvas
with a brush that cut my cheek
and how I didn't think
that I could handle it
my future without him so bleak
now he only reminds me
of the time I lost alone
now the only one who binds me
is my heart - that's my home
heal from the heartache
you will mend as you grow
cause you've got your wings
don't you remember?
they're soft and white like snow
run with your eyes shut
fall into the unknown
cause you've got your wings
and you never had known
so shine from the darkness
you will lighten up as you glow
cause you've got your wings
don't you remember?
they're soft and white like snow
